Myth Wiki Instructions

When you sign up for a wikispaces account (make sure to use the link in the invitation email), try to use your first and last name as a username.

  • ·         Go to: www.a3myth.wikispaces.com  (link is on the Mythology tab of blog under the calendar.
  • ·         Sign in using the username and password you created when you accepted the invitation to the wiki.
  • ·         Click on Pages and Files (on the right side)
  • ·         Click on New Page (on the left, near the top)
  • ·         Create a page name, usually the name of your particular myth
  • ·         Under Template it should say Mythwiki. This is the template you want to use
  • ·         Tags are optional, but you can put in the names of some of the major characters from your myth and the culture to help people find it.
  • ·         Click Create page.

Your wiki page has been created. Click Save to save the page. After saving you can safely logout at this point and then come back to edit the wiki page itself.

Please write your wiki summary and analysis in a word processor like Word and then copy the sections into the wiki page when you are done. This will prevent something bad happening like the wiki eating your project.

Please break your writing up into paragraphs. Shorter is better when it comes to webpages. No paragraph should be longer than ten lines. You will also want to skip lines between the paragraphs because the wiki page cannot indent the first line. (Yes, I know this goes against standard formatting, but we’re on a web page, now.)

Now you are in the actual wiki page. You will see some things already written down for you. All you need to do is fill out the information.

  • ·         Author: This is your name, not the author of the myth.
  • ·         Date: The date you are creating the wiki page.
  • ·         Summary: This is where your summary goes.
  • ·         Word Count: Put the word count for your summary here
  • ·         Analysis: This is where your analysis goes.
  • ·         Works Cited: Give the name of the author and the book you got the myth from or a web link to the page of the myth.
  • ·         Word Count: This is the word count of your analysis section.
After you’ve completed your wiki page, you need to submit your assignment.
  • Create a document.
  • Create a title (which needs to be reflective of your analysis argument).
  • Put the name of your myth below.
  • Put in a link (the web address) to your wiki page.
  • Nothing else.
  • Name the file as normal: (ID#)_Homer_D
  • Submit as normal.
